Dodged the SE battery bullet!

So, I just popped open that SE that I was given, fearing the worst...

but, NO! No acid spilled across the Logic Board:

... and that battery has a date code of 6/88!

:)

I had an SE that had the black battery. I cant recall the name, but it was still holding enough charge to keep the clock. But I cut it out and tossed it anyway, just because.

Black Varta would probably be it. I've had both a black and gold three black and white variations, and all held 2.9V+ still after almost 30 years. Not sure they ever die but I swap 'em anyways.

Maxell (usually Red & White) Battery is the culprit in battery explosions. Varta and that purple one whose name eludes me right now usually does not explode, they do but it is rare that they do.  But it is best to replace them anyways.

I think the purple/green ones are Tardiran (spelling?). While not having the same infinite lifespan of the Black Varta, I've never had one leak or explode.

What's the best way to get battery holders for units (like the above) that still have soldered batteries? Also, does anyone have experience with the Xeno brand as replacements? (I will be replacing batteries in mine, because I prioritize usability over preservation.)
