Boxed SE with Extras

CompuNurd

After a battle with a local recycler (https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/23809-18-se30-and-first-recap-a-rant/), I went on eBay and found this:

$90 shipped. I asked the seller to wrap it in brown paper so he didn't just slap a shipping label on the original box. Everything works, there is minimal yellowing, and there is minimal wear.

After seeing this: eBay item number 141362227895, I think this was a good deal. If I remember, it had been listed for only a few hours, there were several watchers and three offers. I didn't want to deal with that so I just did a Buy it Now.

You can tell this guy took good care of his stuff and kept almost everything. He included all the manuals, as well as the original registration card he filled out and sent (or would have sent) to Apple. There is also a receipt for a modem and modem cable he bought in 1988, but there was no modem in the box.

Boxes and foam to cut to size are a few dollars, in a box your less likely to take them out to use. In my honest opinion.

Congrats again on the SE.

I don't really care about the boxes. It's nice to have them, but they do take up space and with something like this, you don't want to fold them or throw them away. There is an Apple collection on eBay (US) right now for $40K, and he has most of the boxes, including for the 128k and IIc. The boxes might be something I look for, only when I get every Mac model made  :)

Ya I was just messing around. I do agree that it makes you take them out less, have to repack everything all nice and neat, however I would never say no to a box, but I don't search them out insanely.

Totally congrats, looks like its in good shape!

@jsarchibald I was thinking the same thing!  I've never seen some of those inclusions before. My favourite and most used Macintosh in my collection is a Mac SE (with Novy/Daystar Mac20).

Awesome to know you have one complete and no doubt you'll be able to sell it.  Us Australians are so starved of Apple gear :(

I have a few SE upgrades, one being the Levco Prodigy, another being the Quesse, and I have another one somewhere but forget what it is.  I'll be keeping the boxed stuff, probably don't see myself moving that stuff on unless I really had to.

Oh, and I hear you had a run in with a guy over an iPhone 6 - it's a small world!
