Boxed PM 7100+ Duo Dock for the cost of shipping!

I'm going to get this off a LEMSwap member.

Specs of the PM 7100:

Radius video card

56 MB RAM

No HD (but HD sled included)

CD-ROM

Manuals and software

The Duo Dock apparently has some problems accepting any Duos (even B/W ones), which seems strange to me.

Nice haul - the 7100 is such a solid piece of kit, getting to RAM slots a pain though!

The Duo Dock could be suffering from the common bad power supply problem, or it could be the eject mechanism playing up.

Hmm... does the bad PSU problem prevent the Duo from being loaded into the Dock? I honestly didn't know that. :scrambled:

Oh well; I'm about to start being able to solder, so it's not too bad.

It could well be, see here for the Duo Dock "click of death" and route of repair:

... if you're new to soldering, I'd practice on other old PC parts first. Replacing a capacitor such as this shouldn't be too difficult for a novice, it will help if you have a "solder sucker" and something to poke a hole in the PCB while heating the solder (I have a wooden-handled stick with a long wire glued into one end) to ensure the new capacitor slides in properly.

It's a powered accept/eject mechanism, like a VCR, so yeah, it does. Luckily 99% of the time it's just one cap that's blown :D

and actually, I think I may have a (unknown working condition) spare! 8-o

This is turning out to be just awesome.

Got everything yesterday!

The Duo Dock looks good, haven't been able to completely check it yet.

The 7100 is really nice. It came with the original accessory box, two SSW CDs (both 7.5), both pieces of styrofoam, and a Radius 8XJ video card (which I'm considering putting into my IIci, since the onboard video is good enough for me) Works great too!

Aside from a sticker on the front, it looks nice too.

Overall, I'd have to say very worth it for the $35 for shipping.
