The battery holder had corroded off the motherboard and was rattling around inside - I might be able to salvage the memory and a few chips, but I'm really hoping to save the Faralon Ethernet card that was in it. It looks like only a few pins on the connector were affected.
The frame has some bad rusting, but everything above the MB seems ok. I disassembled the rest of it, so I can do component testing with other known good hardware. Thanks all for your concern, one more reminder to remove those red batteries.

I cleaned up the connector on the ethernet card and all of the pins are back to their normal gold color except for three and those three are still strong and conduct. I am hoping to try out the ethernet card in the next day or two to be sure it works. In addition to the SE/30 with the badly corroded motherboard and the maxell battery, there was also a cloth carry case that had cords, a mouse and this card in the top of it...
I was hoping that a few of you would recognize it. When I first saw the CL ad, I thought it was a scam initially, since it listed an '8 bit Micron card', mentioned that it was a collectors item and had a picture of the back that showed an ethernet card. As a result of this supposition, I sat on the information for a few days before contacting the seller.
Yes, with the optional and very rare, grayscale adapter kit, this card supports internal grayscale. Note the extra white connector, which is for the adapter's wiring harness and is described in the accompanying instruction book. Unfortunately the extra kit was not installed in this computer. I guess you can't have everything - but if you keep your eyes open and with a bit of luck, the cool stuff is still out there.
On a related note, I am always on the lookout for a reasonably priced Micron internal grayscale adapter kit...
