Applescanner software

Hi all- I’m trying to get an AppleScanner (original, model A9M0337) connected and working on my Macintosh II. I have the original scanning software (1.01 and 1.02) and apple scan app, which apparently was designed for System 6.0.8. However, the Mac is running System 7.1. The scanner is in great condition, and turns on/‘moves’, and is recognized on the SCSI bus. But I need the drivers. Apparently, Scanner 2.0 or 3.0 drivers will allow the scanner to run on System 7.1. But I cannot find a working set of drivers anywhere (I downloaded a bulk drivers package from Macintoshrepository.org as .sea files, but they’re either corrupted or incomplete). I could downgrade to system 6.0.8, but wanted to see if I could get this up and running on system 7.1 first. Am I correct on any/all of this? Any suggestions would be very helpful! Thanks. John.

Just to follow up- I was able to download and install the linked file (thank you!). The ofoto app work on system 7.1, however the scanner was still not recognized (Scanner extension 3.0). I wiped the hard drive on the Mac II, and installed system 6.0.8, installed the scanner extension and software (not Scanner extension 3.0 and ofoto- they will not run on system 6.0.8), but again, the scanner was not recognized. I checked all connections and made sure the scanner powered on, green light, and at least ‘shifted’, implying that it’s mechanically functional (I may have to perform more hardware troubleshooting in light of the continual issue). No luck with scanner recognition. If anyone has a suggestion or two about scanner hardware checks, please let me know. Thanks!

You're very welcome! Sorry it's still giving you trouble. That same page also has Scanner v 2 in one of the downloads. The garden also has just straight Ofoto if you want to give it a try. And of course, make sure all your connections are stable, things are properly terminated, etc etc

Update #2: I did some hardware investigating (basically just opened the scanner!). BTW- the scanner is pristine- it doesn’t look like it’s ever been used! So I wasn’t surprised to see that the components weren’t gunky, rusted, etc. And I didn’t see signs of cap leaking. I checked the carriage mobility, and while a bit tough to move at first, I eventually was able to position it at the middle of the scanner body. I plugged it back in, turned it on while pressing the physical scan button (initiates a self-test), and the lamp came on, the carriage moved, and it seemed like the test was complete. I turned on the Mac and launched AppleScan 1.0.2, and it worked! Turns out it wasn’t a driver issue at all. I’m still confused by the error message prior to maneuvering the carriage, but seems to be ok. Of note, the scanner is a bit noisy while scanning (sounds like a loud dot-matrix printer), and I don’t know if that’s normal or if I need to investigate hardware a bit more. But the carriage seems to return to home position after a scan without difficulty. Thanks again for all of the help!
