Antoine64 intro and my powerbook museum

Hello, My name is Antoine. I am a mac collector, specifically Powerbooks. I have a website for my Powerbook museum at:

http://www.ryonix.com/powerbookmuseum/

I will have 22 Powerbooks posted soon with separate pages with many pictures of each model.

I also get other macs from time to time. I will post them as well in the future.

Greetings and welcome to the forums.

You have a wonderful collections of PB's there as well as a nice site to document them all. I hope you get that 2300c working.

Powerbook Duo 2300c/ an ebay purchase / someone had literally pried the processor off the motherboard
Sounds like Trash80toG4 might have had a go at it.

I miss that guy. He was even crazier than me.

Welcome Antoine. Lovely collection nicely presented.

Quite a nice collection. I am starting to get back into collecting the older macs. Right now, I got a Lombard (typing this on it right now) 333Mhz G3 and right next to it on the right is a PowerBook 520 (no, not 520c) which I am going to do all sorts of horrible attrocities (if I choose to do so and money grants) of upgrading it. Right now, I have an AAUI-15 --> RJ-45 adapter coming (Farallon) and 16MB Memory coming. I bought the PowerBook for $30. and I got the Lombard for $100 and it had extras.

I gotta say, apple's older Laptops are truly rock-solid.

Anyways, thanks for showing us the collection. What is your aim/goal? are you going to try to get every possible powerbook there is? +G4s?

Welcome Antoine64 :) I like your website and collection - it's always good to hear the story behind how you came across your Powerbooks. I'm doing the same here, trying to get every shape of Powerbook made (not focusing on every model, just shape).

Welcome to the forums! :) Nice collection you have going there :)

Sounds like Trash80toG4 might have had a go at it.

I miss that guy. He was even crazier than me.
What happened to him anyway? :(

Nice collection, especially the 180c's. I want an 180c pretty badly, it's just that working ones are far from cheap.

Welcome! That is an amazing collection of PowerBooks you have. I have a particular liking for PowerBook as well and have collected quite a few models over the years, but not nearly as many as yours.

My goal is to collect each shape of powerbook meaning I want to get a Powerbook Titanium G4 and not each version of the titanium. My newest Powerbooks include a 550MHz Powerbook G4 Titanium, a 15inch Aluminum 1.33GHz Powerbook, and once I save enough money, a Macbook Pro.

In answer to the 180c post, I have one that it mostly perfect except for the hinge plastics which need repair .. my 180c #2 has a partially functional screen.

My Powerbooks are a 3400c, a 1400cs and a 5300cs.

M y favorite is the 5300. It's got a great size (for me) even the dual scan LCD is pretty good. I will be upgrading the LCD to the active matrix version just so I can go 800x600. Then a farallon ethernet / video upgrade PDS card and finally a 56MB RAM card. I may or may not bother to do a CF HD for it.

The PRAM battery would be better off with a replacement, the screen automatically brightens occasionally during startup, and a screw is partially damaged.

It has an 80 MB HD with 7.6 and 8 MB of RAM.

I am disappointed that you do not have a page for one of the greatest laptops apple has ever made, the 2400! I am glad to see you have one though :)

Past that, welcome! I am sure there are many stories to be told about various resurrections and acquisitions.

TBird
