ANS 700

Hm, usually for me breaking in to Macs involves starting in single-user mode and resetting the root password. This is much cooler.

I bought a 200MHZ Processor and a full key set. The power supply is being re capped by 360alaska. Now the only thing I need is the SCSCI CD Rom and the ANS will be complete. Im actually pretty impressed that I was able to get most of the stuff sorted sub 1,000.

After getting the power supply recapped, it seems like the ANS still won't boot. After pressing the power button, the machine lights up and then suddenly shutdown. Its just a quick flash of the lights. Anyone know what could be the culprit?

Check the continuity of the locking system, or try to bypass it.  Also check if there is a CUDA switch to press on the motherboard, to allow the board to detect the 200Mhz CPU.

Couple things I found on www.liquisearch.com/apple_network_server/hardware

1) The stock ANS 700 has 1MB of L2 Cache whereas mine has 512kb.

2) Stock ANS has 48MB of RAM and mine has 32MB

Would these two issues stop the machine from booting for more than a second? Or is it a short circuit as the other article mentioned?
