A little bit of Lisa . . .

A part a day brings you closer to building a Lisa! Wait.. Thats not right. :)

Congrats on the part! I was looking through eBay and I found that part too, I passed though, as I wanted to by a complete 68k machine for my collection.

*sings* A little bit of Lisa in the sun...

Looks that way too...though to be fair, its not as bad as *some* yellowed machines I've seen.

;) Dunno which way to take it, a lot will depend upon the CRT bezel curvature . . .

. . . LisaQuarium could be a possibility if it's too much trouble otherwise . . . can't mod it for a ZIP. :o)

can't mod it for a ZIP. :o)
No way!
At least now you can buy a Lisa without the front bezel, which might be cheaper than one with the bezel. That is, if you can find one without a bezel.

Speaking of Lisas without bezels-any idea where a stray bezel came from? ;)

The guy from whom I bought my Lisa 1 had a spare Lisa 1 bezel and a couple of NOS twiggy drives in service bags. He was planning to sell them at a later date but I never heard or read about it happening. So there may be a Lisa 1 bezel etc in a garage in Lincolnshire...

A Lisa (1) bezel would be the bomb!

I just checked, of the five packages I have in transit, guess which one is coming via United Package Smashers? :-/

Who's hoard? :?: Celgen, will a 13" CRT fit in the Lisa's case? The 12" CRT looks like a tight fit. I've found a couple of Color SVGA 13" CRTs for a reasonable price.

I'm hopin' that's just schmutz on the top internal lip of the FDD access indentation and not a chip . . .

. . . otherwise I might just clean it up with a Zip mod. }:)

Thats the best name for UPS I have ever heard!
Huh... I've had relatively good luck with UPS.
USPS has been good also, except they mangled one of my SE/30 logic boards recently.

Who's hoard?
tvrsales picked up about 50+ skids of computer hardware software and documentation off a landlord whose tenant decided that selling some systems was not worth it and completely stopped paying the bills. For reasons I'll address the tenant as "Sallam" but he has a backround with CCtalk and the Vintage Computer Festivals. He was a prety big name.

Anyways, Sallam is currently trying to sue tvrsales and everyone who buys his stuff from them because they got the contents of his 10000 square foot warehouse and they're raking in a bloody fortune selling it on ebay. Lisa, Altair, Commodore PET 2001, ADM-3A....you name it, he probably had at least two.

Real tragedy.

The recess for the Lisa's CRT is 6.5" x 9.5", or 11.5" diagonally.

Interesting note about those lawsuits, can I expect a legal notice message on eBay from this eviction victim?

Thanks for the bezel specs, I figured it would be just about right for a shallow mock-up case and a 1400c based picture frame project. ;)

Just what I need . . . yet another project . . . ::)

. . . especially one likely to be playing a looped slide-show of frogdesign studies/mock-ups and other subversive propaganda in the HackLab™

Meet Lisa_P™ [:D] ]'>

Just one hour after her arrival, she's had a good workout with stiff nylon brushes and copious amounts of SoftScrub w/Bleach on the messier side. Much improved, better than expected. The CRT surround and much of the back retain the original grime, but the sticker residue/marker/whatever stains didn't take too long at all to get off, that was a concern.

The wire and borked ribbon cable are attached to the PartsMo's LCD. I was very glad to find that this fit. I figured it would be a close run thing, but it fits and appropriately sized borders around each image in a slide show should give it a convincing Lisa-like, if 24bit Color, appearance behind a clear plexi CRT bubble.

I think this may work out, I'm thrilled! :approve:

This is a terrible idea. but what if you cut off the left 1/4 and right 1/4 (appx.) of two compacts, sat them side by side, used one side for monitor and HDD and the other for floppies and whatever else you can fit in the negative... hmm. (and then stuck the lisa front to their frankensteiner bodies) }:)

Wrong setback, angle, height etc. & no legs/feets. ;)

Gotta do some figuring, there are a few ways I can fab the case and several other directions possible given the appearance of a suitable display. This one goes on the back burner, I'm just hapy to have figured out a way to give it a 24bit LCD and a way to make "matted" slides that will fit the bezel opening just so. The 1400's LCD wouldn't do nearly as well in bezel fit or bit count, the Pismo just works.

I don't intend for this to be any deeper than necessary, I might even skootch the setback and legs/feets a bit forward. It seems like the Lisa makes for a pretty darn big display piece without much under the hood to play with when you get right down to it.
