WPA2 compatible PCMCIA cards?

So for a while, I've been tethering my Pismo to my phone. But I'd really like to know if there is a USB or PCMCIA card which I can plug in to my 10.4 Pismo.

What I used back in the day was the Linksys WPC54G. Worked fine, by my recollection, with WPA2 networks, no additional drivers needed.  I don't remember off hand if I had a specific revision and if there's any worry or anything there.

Thanks for that! Going to wait and see what others come up with, but I'll certainly add that card to my potentials list.

I have an Airport card in the Pismo and last year Virgin media sent an update to our SuperHub, which resulted in WPA support no longer working. It's WPA2 or WPA2/legacy, which I guess is some sort of backward compatible WPA support, which the airport card doesn't care for one bit. The only way the Pismo will connect to my mobile, is by making running the hotspot without encryption, but minimizing connections to 1. It's not perfect, but least while the Pismo is hooked up, nobody else is connecting to my phone. It's just a pity it wont allow MAC filtering.

I found the card - it's a WPC54G version 3. I don't remember there being anything that was advertised as being more Mac-specific, because by the time WPA2 appeared, Macs both stopped having places to put cards and had stopped shipping without pre-installed Wifi. (I re-read (USA) MacWorld's preview and review for the 2001 Dual USB iBook and it makes almost no mention of wifi at all, which is wild in retrospect.)

Depending on what your physical location is like, another possible option to make WPA1 or WEP or even no encryption at al reasonable might be to get a second router or access point, like an old WPC54G or earlier AirPort. You could even turn it on/off just when you wanted to use it.

I've thought about it, but I haven't done it because I live in a relatively high density apartment/condo development, where open/WEP-only wifi would be exploited pretty quickly.

The other option, which I might eventually do, is an unrestricted wifi access point meant for my iBook G3 and maybe the 1400 (I have some WaveLANs) that gets something like 128/128k to the greater Internet, and/or is MAC restricted, or firewalled such that the only thing it can access is vtools.

I took this option; my iBook G3 refused flat to even see my Ubiquiti AP. I acquired a WRT54G from eBay for minimal cost and have hooked it up set to hidden just for my iBook, works perfectly.

Saying that, I think I've got a WPC54G card floating around somewhere that I could part with, if you'd like to test.

I just bought a brand new sealed Belkin F5D7011 for under $10 on eBay and it works perfectly with my Pismo and Tiger--no drivers necessary. I can connect to my WPA2 network without issue.
