Noticed something weird about WordPerfect today. I had to use GraphicConverter to scale some images for inclusion in a Word Perfect document, so I did that on my Beige G3. I was running a little low on time, so I created the WordPerfect document on the Beige G3 too.
Anyway, I'm running the free WordPerfect 3.5 Enhanced version on my Beige G3 and the full retail WordPerfect 3.5 version on my Quadra 700. Since my Quadra 700 is my dedicated word processing/faxing workstation, I had to use Appletalk to save the file from the Beige G3 to the Quadra 700 for faxing.
I went over to the Quadra 700 and launched WordPerfect. Selected the Open command from the File menu, and navigated to my Documents folder. WordPerfect 3.5 Retail doesn't recognize WordPerfect 3.5 Enhanced created documents. Bizarre. I had to go back to the G3 and save the document as a WordPerfect 3.x document before the retail version of WordPerfect on my Quadra could open it.
To make a long story short, the retail version of WordPerfect 3.5 won't open the free WordPerfect 3.5 Enhanced version documents. What a pisser. You have to save documents created in WordPerfect 3.5 Enhanced as a WordPerfect 3.x document if you want to open it with the retail version of WordPerfect 3.5.
I think I just might have to install WordPerfect 3.5 Enhanced on my Quadra 700 to avoid these problems. Either that, or start using my fully paid for Retail version of WordPerfect 3.5 on my other Macs too.
