Do you still have it around? It can almost certainly be repaired with a replacement disk drive.

yes i do. in a few months when i'm done graduating i'm planning to get to work on it.

i'm going to scrap a dodgy SE so i can repair the ED and replace the screen of my SE/30. (the previous owner obviously never used screensavers)

What did I do before joining the 68KMLA? I walked the streets in the evening, as an Apple Defender. Whenever I saw a hoodie standing on the corner, I whipped out his white ear buds and inspected his music player. Anyone who inserted white Apple ear buds into a non-iPod was eliminated on the spot. Real iPod owners were questioned about their upgrade plan. Just part of the Fake Steve marketing strategy.

Alas, Fake Steve failed to deliver on the fake iPod Nanos that I was planning to use. I thought it would be a good deal to give fake iPods to the thugs, so that they would recognise who to mug for the fake "real thing". [Just strike out "real thing", which is a signal to Coca Cola lawyers to kill you. I meant "real deal" which is owned by a company which has less letigious lawyers.] And Fake Steve? Some of his fake deals just don't deliver the fake goods.

Me and Paw were dirt poor ADB cable farmers in the dustbowl. Maw ran off with thet thar fancy Lisa from the next valley. Paw jes never came good after that day. Pretty soon, he up and passed away, and I buried him out back by the floppy disk orchard.

So I quit peripheral farming, and signed me up with the MLA, hoping to see me some real action. Sometimes I miss Maw and Paw and the ole house, and Clarus the dogcow, but there ain't nothing like the thrill of recapping an analogue board, or field-stripping a Quadra 800 in the dark, to give a feller a sense o' satisfaction.

It's a man's* life in the MLA! Join up today!

*YMMV

Please explain. I'm a mod on Fritter, but I'm not too stuffy to turn up my nose at the 68KMLA! What upset you or got you down? Most Fritter posts tend to be about PPC/Intel Macs, but what else? (Note: I don't use IRC, which may be different.)

what got me upset was the lack of freedom when it comes to "Remember Outdoors" posts. The mods here do a great job of monitoring posts. But when a subject gets even a little out of hand at AF, they either lock or delete the thread. It wasn't just that tho. It was the fact that all they really talk about is computers. I kno tht it is a computer site. But look at the mla, we've got character here
