Using FloppyEMU without a case?

Been a while since I've had time to hang around here! I am playing a bit with my vintage computers again.

I have a floppy emu and am rediscovering how much I love it. So much, that I'm seriously starting to think about buying additional units so that I can keep them permanently attached to different machines.

Does anyone out there have much experience running a Floppy EMU long-term without a plastic case? For my first one, I bought the case, and it works great, but I wanted to chop all my fingers off after putting it together. I am not handy with the small parts (vintage computer hobbyist irony alert). Not complaining, I think it's wonderful that BMOW makes the case available at all, but I would like to avoid the pain of putting that thing together three or four more times. Does the board get dirty or damaged too easily if you use it naked? Any tips for storing/protecting it without the case?

Umm yes sensitive electronics will be prone to shorting and damage if left exposed ... why not store it in a “jiffy” style case?

Thanks! I did worry about that (I already have too many dust-covered sensitive electronics). Jiffy must be a regional term though, I googled and nothing made sense... do you have a link to a pic?

If it is best to buy the plastic case and assemble then I will suck it up and deal! Just wondered if anyone else out there was using them naked/case-free.

Electronics stores in US call them "potting" cases; just enclosures to mount electronic devices in - cut your own holes etc.
