System Profiler Software for Overclocks

That's on your 7300 machine? It's interesting that Apple System Profiler is reporting the correct (modified) bus speed for you, but not for me. I'm really puzzled by the numbers I'm seeing from Apple System Profiler - it should be reporting 40 MHz bus for my 6300, but it says 37.5 MHz and another person confirmed the same reporting with their 6300 too. Probably just a bug, but it would be funny to discover that all 6300/100 machines are actually 6300/94 machines (37.5 times 2.5) and the 100 is just a marketing number. I'll look for Gauge Pro and CPU Director to try.

Why don't you find the clock source on the board? Remember it may / probably is a multiple of division of what you expect i.e. I suspect it will be 20MHz or 18.75MHz. It will possibly be near an MC88920 or similar chip... which if you're unlucky will be relabelled as an Apple chip with an Apple part number, but will have the same footprint as an MC88920, because it will be one (or similar chip from that family).

Probably this :

343S1191 is described as the "Athens Prime Clock/timing controller", which I bet is an MC88920. Might not be, but it is still the clock chip whatever it is.

So, what does the crystal oscillator next to it say on your board?
