System folder blessing problem

Hey there guys, first post on the forums.

Thanks for already being such a help for me recapping my classic and IIci

recently got into the classic mac world and picked up a free Power Macintosh 7100/66 with a g3 card.

noticed it making some weird rumbling sounds as if the floppy drive had come loose inside...

turned out the guy took out the floppy drive altogether and put in a second hard disk drive.

smaller drive - active system software 8.0

bigger drive - new 'to be' system disk + already installed software.

since my classic has a dead quantum prodrive (spins up, wont unpark by itself) i wanted to put the smaller drive in the classic

the smaller drive also contains the active system software so i copied the system folder onto the other disk...

now here is the thing: i can't seem to get the system folder to bless itself.

already tried opening it, closing it, moving the system and finder files in and out of there.

this all DOES work on the smaller hard disk with the active system software on it.

does ANY of you have ANY idea how to solve this?

thanks in advance!

yes i have also tried that too. forgot to mention it.

even saw a special key combo which you had to hold before double clicking it...

the weird thing for me is that unblessing and reblessing the current active software on the smaller hdd works like a charm.

as soon as you drag the system files out the folder loses it's icon, as you drag them back in it gets the system folder icon again instantly.

Guys, it turned out there was a hidden backup of the system folder far away in the folders that was being seen as THE system folder... removing the system file from it made me able to bless the main system folder.

Problem solved :)
