I just want to say that I'm looking forward to seeing this project move forward more than anything else that's being worked on lately. It will be great to be able to find and download files on the older macs without needing go between machines.

jhorvath911: Thank you! It's exciting seeing the archive slowly grow by a few gigabytes a day!

rickrob, galgot: If you'd like accounts to use to upload content and/or clean up indexes, let me know.

The current status is that a wget -mr of http://ftp.vim.org/gave me less than 7 gigs of info-mac, but after it recursed into the ftp directory it ended up with more than 33 gigs. That's rsyncing to the Quadra now :)

Just wanted to chime in and say that what you're doing is marvelous!

Just the fact that you're hosting everything on a Quadra 610 (with 2TB hard drive!!) running NetBSD on a 68040 (unless you have some accelerator in it?) is simply stunning!

Very nice project, makes me realise how overpowered my server is for what it hosts ! (wired, http and FTP don't really need a Octo core xserve with 10 GB of ram... :) )

Sherry, max1zzz: Thank you! In my opinion it's a testament to both the power of a 1993 computer and the versatility of Unix. Of course the system had to be recapped, but there aren't many machines that old which wouldn't. It's my personal way of preserving history.

Most of the important archives have been uploaded. We'll post URLs very soon.

Just wondering how this project is going, hadn't seen anything about it in a while.
The programming end has been stalled because of me. I underwent Radiation therapy on 5/5 and since then I have been too tired to do anything since. The docs say that I will recover and wont be tired anymore nd be my normal self again, but I'm impatient as far as this healing process is concerned because it is delaying a lot of projects I wanted to do, including this one.

Oh, backup British English 7.6/7.6.1 CD, as it's quite hard to find. (I have a copy from max1zzz if you want it.)

Edit: is the Quadra down?

Thanks Galgot! Underwent more tests today and am exhausted. A Cardio Stress Test and an Echo Cardogram on top of drawing 1/2 pint of blood for testing. If I did not had to post some good news, I'd be snoozing right now for the next 24 hours! LOL!

See ya guys on Mac II/Quadra/Centris section! Good news to be posted there soon.
