Sonnet Encore G4 firmware AFTER card has been installed

Hi all,

just put my spare Sonnet Encore G4 1.2 GHz in my spare G4 cube and it won't boot. After some fiddling around I realized that I have never installed the Sonnet firmware patch. Is there any way to install the patch with the G4 card already installed or do I REALLY have to disassemble the whole cube again... ???

Any help is appreciated!

A "1.2" is probably a 7455 CPU, which would not need the firmware fix. Do you have a picture of the CPU? Does the Cube power up?

I will turn on but won‘t show a picture and won‘t boot. :-( unfortunately I don‘t have a picture… :-(

Yeah 1.2 generally works without any patching. However there isn't really anything you can do at this point besides take it back apart to see if you can spot an issue.

have you made sure the G4 Cube's firmware itself is full up to date? 4.1.9 is the latest IIRC

I think only later versions of the firmware natively support the 7455, so something worth double checking
