I'm reviving this thread in order to provide some long-awaited updates on my SE/30.
I would like to begin by stating that I recently received another SE/30, this time from IamSpartacus, and I must say I was quite impressed with the care that went into preparing the unit for shipping, despite the mediocre quality of the case (especially the front bezel). Naturally, I applaud you on a job well done.
The reason for wanting to obtain another SE/30 was to replace the dying 120 MB Maxtor drive from my first SE/30 with the 250 MB Quantum drive in the newly-acquired SE/30, in addition to sourcing a slightly better rear bucket case, and chassis, as well as experimenting with the "mysterious" coaxial network card that was included with Spartacus' SE/30. The reasonable cost of shipping from Seattle to Ontario, and the idea of having a "spare" SE/30 motherboard were other intriguing factors.
Here's a pic of the two units side-by-side. The one with the rear case currently removed is the unit I purchased from Spartacus.
In regards to my first SE/30 - the motherboard was reinstalled in November after undergoing a complete capacitor replacement (the same will have to be done with the other SE/30 as the sound is quite faint), and the borders on the CRT were readjusted. The screen doesn't appear to be jumping anymore, so the caps in the power supply, and on the analogue board can live a little while longer. It now has a 250 MB Quantum drive installed running 6.0.5., and is currently using the rear bucket case from the second SE/30 in order to house the external network card. The caps (with the exception of the motherboard) seem to be OK on the second SE/30 (no image stability issues as far as I can tell).
Moreover, in another thread, I mentioned I owned a Pioneer DRM-602x 6-Disc SCSI CD changer. The objective with that CD changer was to attempt to play music through my SE/30's internal speaker, in addition to running CD-ROM based programs. However, the obstacle that I am currently encountering with that is the fact that both the SE/30's, and Pioneer's audio port only provide audio outputs with no inputs. Is there a means of bypassing that?
As far as the "mystery card" is concerned - the following pics speak for themselves in terms of what the card looks like, and what software programs the card is integrated with. More will be added shortly due to the restriction placed on the number of attachments permitted per post.
Lastly, I'm looking for two well-kept front bezels for my SE/30s, in addition to two rear bucket cases. PM me with offers.
