Hi,
This is something I've noticed with Compact Macs. You may have noticed this too, but just in case you didn't I thought it would be interesting to post this (maybe this isn't the world's most exciting thing, but it's something to try if you don't know what else to do).
And I've only seen this with Compact Macs, no other type of machine.
1) Preferably at night, enter a room containing an early compact Mac (it may not work with CCs).
2) Turn off the light.
3) Wait a minute or two for your eyes to adjust to the dark--the darker it is, the better, which is why nighttime is preferable.
4) Shield your eyes completely.
5) Turn on the light, still shielding your eyes.
6) Leave the light on for 20-30 secs.
7) Turn off the light and open your eyes.
If this works, when you open your eyes, the screen should be glowing. Not just glowing, but glowing brightly--a bright white, almost as if it were on. That's probably due to the phosphor coating or whatever it is that absorbs the light...but this doesn't happen with my iMac or Macintosh Color Display.
Anyway, just thought that would be interesting for those of you not quite sure what to do.
