Just picked up a SE/30 here in the UK with a Burgundy Mac carrying case. System was sold as not working. Came complete with ADB keyboard and mouse and a couple of manuals.
Having taken an initial look the system powers on, chimes, and I can hear hard disk activity. There is however no screen.
I opened up and when I tried to ground the high voltage I got no spark, so I am thinking the Analog board is the place to start. There is a pattern of reside across the inside top of the case and the top of the CRT seems to have a black residue -I have done a little cleaning with IPA and the stuff is really black!
The Logic board looks good, I think the capacitors will need to be replaced but are not a priority for now. I looked at the memory slots and there seems to be a mixture, some have plastic clips but there are 4 with metal clips - I suspect these may have been replaced at some point.
The HDD is a Quantum ProDrive LPS which sounds healthy and makes all the fight noises one startup.
This is my first foray into classic Macs so any advice on the dead display would be appreciated. I have attached some photos to try and show what I am talking about.
