ok so its not a real SE/30 computer that i'm operateing with, its an emulator. SoftMacXP to be excat. from what i've been able to dicern its the same I/O as far as handleing the ram and the OS and BIOS see the computer as normal unless somthign happens. so you got the emulated hardware working withoout the risk of a breakdown right? no. i encountered a very serious problem, as seen here.

i havent been able to find any information about this error and i dont know waht to do about it. it wont load up when i set hte memory to 512kb, and when i set it to higher than 512kb (only goes to 4mb) i get that error.

You're using a ROM image? From what kind of Mac?
identified as a Macintosh SE rom the size is 256 KB (262,144 bytes), checksum calculated as B2E362A8, rom reports a checksum of B2E362A8.

It is a RAM error problem on an original SE indicating a defective SIMM. It's a problem with your emulator, startup disk image, or the ROM image you're using. Try the software on the SE you copied the ROM image from (you didn't illegally steal the ROM image did you?). If it starts up there, then you'll know it's the emulator. And stop using XP for God's sake! It's just taking years off your life!

well i did in fact download the rom image from my SE/30 under System 7.1 useing hte program known as CopyROM, also what else would i use? windows 2k? *pukes* or worse vista? *pukes again*

Why use SoftMac instead of BasiliskII ???
Becasue i cant get BasiliskII to boot any classic (68000, 68010, or 68020 roms)
