Quadra 700 paired with a Multiple Scan 20 display?

Hi,
I'm just wondering if anyone has used (or seen) the M1823 Multiple Scan 20" Display (circa March 1993) with a Quadra 700? I know the resolution will be below the monitor's full capability due to the 700's on board graphics card limitations (maxed out at 2mb vram), but I'm just wondering if it's worth pairing these two and what anyone's experiences have been.

I assume the 20" monitor is maximum resolution 1152*870? The Quadra 700 does that resolution, just probably not at 24bit... Let's see...

(2*1024*1024)/(1152*870/8)=16.74, so just enough to do thousands of colours perhaps, if the Quadra aligns on 16bits (it uses 32bits per 24bit pixel for optimisation reasons).

What I don't know is if the Q700 supports multisync monitors. Someone else might be able to tell you that.

Edit :
Everymac says it only does 8bit at 1152*870, so there must be some optimisation at 16bit too.

Thanks for your reply! 8bit is good enough for me, but what you mention here is what really concerns me. I'm just wondering if the 700 can even support this monitor. I even tried google imaging this combination and couldn't find it. Plenty of 700's with 20" monitors but none with this Apple Multiple Scan M1823. I even watched Jurassic Park again to get a look at the 20" displays they used with those 700's, and they were all SuperMatch CRT's.

@cheesestraws is the Q700 MultiSync capable?

@paddymayne even if it isn't a simple home made adapter makes it work at the right resolution. Its probably MultiSync, I just don't know when the feature was introduced exactly. The IIci doesn't, the C650 does... The Q700 is right between them.

The Q700 works fine with multi-sync. I use a dumb adapter on mine for LCDs and swap resolutions and have used a 15" MS on it also.

I’m using a Sony CPD-420GS on mine. I have a configurable VGA adapter with DIP switches to choose the monitor mode. It works fine not only on the fixed sync Apple monitor settings, but on the multisync settings as well. That includes the setting to emulate an Apple Multiple Scan 20.

Maxed VRAM to 2MB. No problems running 864x632@24bit or 1152x870@8bit.
