Price advice: Collector's boxed Beige G3 Tower

Bunsen

Heya folks. Just had an odd one come in to work, and I'm wondering if anyone can suggest what we should expect to get for it.

Beige G3 tower in original box, foams, and plastic wrap, opened.

All original accessories, disks and papers, in original boxes.

Keyboard (original cellophane) and mouse.

Sonnet Encore G4 500Mhz 1MB cache

Unknown RAM and HD (haven't booted it yet)

Orange Micro USB Firewire card

Wings AV card

DVD player (possibly burner, have to open it up again)

Original boxes, disks and packing foam for the Sonnet and the Orange Micro, even.

Price check on aisle 5?

And if the mods feel this is better placed in the Trading Post, go ahead. I wasn't sure.

I should also note it's in pristine cosmetic condition. And it's in Australia, where Macs of any sort in this condition don't come up very often.

Yeah I think I'll double list it in Apple->Desktops and Computers->Vintage

Actually I think you would get more selling the G3 as stock with the original CPU and selling that G4 seperate.

Interesting call Unknown_K, I'll put it to my boss.

Right now it's showing whatever internal HD it has as grr

And it needs a PRAM battery.

I'm not sure the "collector" scene around here really wants a mint in-box MTG3 - not at a comparable price to a similar condition older Mac, anyway.

Nonetheless, there are those who will prefer a Beige G3 in quasi-original (?) cosmetic as well as functional condition, and be prepared to pay more to get it. Given a Rev. C ROM ($77D.45F2 in ASP), Sonnet G4 ZIF upgrade already (now that G4/500MHz from ic-china has dried up), and original hard-copy documentation, only the scrounge mentality amongst buyers will cavil at the price. Fix your price and stand your ground unless disposal is an urgent necessity. An AUD100 computer with the Beige MT's talents and drive expandability is not to be sneezed at.

If you have a G3 ZIF laying around, I'd plug that in and sell it with that. Of all people, Bunsen, you should know the value of G4 ZIF's. It's not often you can get one for cheap, even one of the slower ones.

That's true. The original G3 ZIF is there, in the original Sonnet packaging. I was thinking I'd put the original back in and sell the G4 separately, with a link in the Mac listing.

I don't know about the USB/FW; I don't think they're worth too much and whether a collector-zombie would object to it being there.

It's amazing. There is literally everything from the original retail shipment, right down to the Apple stickers and the spare PCI slot cover from where the USB/FW went in.

You'll need to get a can of "Aroma of newly moulded plastic" to spray everything with. Include a calendar of 1999 and an invite to see the fireworks in Sydney at the end of the year.

I think the best thing to do is to list all the upgrades separately, and offer "free installation with buy it now" or something like that.

I may even have the original 6 gig Quantum drive that came with -my- beige G3 to put in it. And the original Apple 24x ATAPI CD-ROM.
