Powermac g4 OS 9 networking

So, I have two graphite G4 powermacs, both running OS 9 that I want to connect. Specifically, I want to LAN Diablo II. I have them directly connected with an ethernet cable but this doesn't seem to work. Do I specifically need a crossover cable, or is the G4 new enough that that is not an issue? My experience with OS 9 does not include networking so I'm kind of at a loss here as to why it didn't just work.

It depends on which PowerMacs they are.  The only graphite models that support Auto-MDIX (not needing a crossover cable) are the Gigabit Ethernet and Digital Audio.  If your PowerMacs are the older Yikes or Sawtooth models, you need a crossover cable.

Yeah, I wasn't thinking. They are AGP graphics graphite models, and do require crossover cables... I should have just googled it. Sorry for posting the thread. Oops!
