Powerbook 170 internal video cables and connectors

Does anyone know the make/model/part number of the ribbon cable connector on the PB170 LCD? This would be part of the Hosiden HLR1014 and not in any Apple service manual. I have one here that won't make proper contact even though it's been cleaned and reflowed.

Also, is there any effort underway to clone the 170's internal video cable like there was with the 170/160 cable? Are there any left for sale anywhere if not?

The LCD of course has the typical tunneling but I get a scrambled mess or nothing at all if I don't press on the cable in exactly the right spot.

That'll be an obsolete part. I'm guessing pitch is 1.25mm for that end - Molex 0039532264 is not ZIF but might've worked. In any case, being in your situation, with a bad connector and a bad ribbon, what I'd do is hardwire the panel to the interconnect board using something like 80way IDE ribbon cable. It's a lot of work, though.

I'll go look at my bad 180 panel later and get proper measurements off the display PCB (I yanked the connector on that to wire it directly and have no idea where I put the actual connector). That might help find a replacement.

That looks like it could be the part. Thanks for finding it!

I don't want to do a direct wire-up because the LCD has tunneling anyway and I'm hoping to get it baked or replaced at some point.

To bake you'd remove the glass from the PCB, and hardwired connections wouldn't be an issue in that case. Replacing would mean finding one without tunneling :p

But yeah, I hear you.
