Pixel Paradise Lost . . . and Found . . .

NIGHT STALKER
I normally post this stuff in my IIfx thread, but this time I'd also like to share it here in order to point out some of this years nicer conquests, if you can call spending way too much time searching for, and then manually sniping, said goodies on eBay actual conquests. But I got four really nice cards in two deals, another nice one in the PDS/NuBusBigLot that was featured in the last couple of Full House posts. I wanted to show 'em off here in Conquests along with the VidCard that's been my trusty sidekick, the LittleRedRadiusPixelRocket, for the last ten years or so . . .

. . . and so . . . [:D] ]'> . . . with no further adieu:

Full House 5

Unfortunately, they didn't all want to cooperate together, so only three of the six showed up in the screenshot.

There's some anecdotal evidence and a lot of conjecture regarding this coincidence below.

Here's the low down from from my own personal ROM Spelunking/Display App fave.

I actually prefer TechTool, but SlotInfo just looks so good on the screen.

The Card in Slot C had its DeclROM Slot ID info STOMPED ON by the 12" Bully in the next slot.

It's really a Radius Color Pivot Card, not as big a deal as the other 4 new-to-me VidCards, but still nice to have. ;)

It's interesting that the thee Radius Cards won't play nicely together. I don't have RadiusWare or the Radius Intellicolor Software/Drivers loaded on my pet IIfx. I'll have to try RadiusWare later today to see if they'll show three screens in the Monitors Control Panel. This co-incidence leaves me to Believe that the three screens showing up would be the 24AC and the SuperMac Spectrum/24, both in 1024/768 x 1Bit and then the RasterOps ColorBoard 364 in 640 x 480 x 24 Bit.

I couldn't change the first Radius Card's Color Depth.

It's also interesting that the monitors ID and positions appear to show up in the Monitors Control Panel in the order they are installed in the slots when facing the Computer, which neatly co-incides with the rising numbers of the NuBus Slot Assignments.

This bears further inquiry. I was being lazy about the testing portion of these coincidental findings due to the hurried nature of the testing/Full House project. My 24AC hadn't worked when I pulled on card from the Full House 4/Video Card Roundup/Card testing session, which did show all six screens in the Monitors Control Panel. That made me wonder if there was a conflict with the IIfx's quirky I/O setup, luckily that was coincidental, not a serious concern.

I needed to get these two new ones tested, mine's on the right/bottom of Full House 5 pic above/whatever, it's interesting that none have the same batches of components in the same places and that the ASIC has changed to further confuse the issue.

I'll post the rest of the CardPIX in a reply below to ease load times . . .

. . . and to give me time to get around to taking them and to do the further testing! ;)

[mod mode]____WARNING_____witching hour rambling alert ______Proceed to seasons greetings at end of post______>

Whatever, one of the new ones is headed out as a Christmas Treat for another comrade along with a spare Quadra 950 that I'll have to box up and then schlep to the USPS . . . AFTER I feel better! I've had a run in with a viral flashmob that started in one sinus cavity that's rampaged everywhere a cold can go. So I've spent a lot of my four day Pre & Thanksgiving Holiday sniffling, went back to work for Black Friday . . . left after 3.25 hours and am just about ready to be heading back to work in the morning . . .

. . . yay . . . :-/

[/mod mode]_________Season's Greetings__________>

I've spent a lot of time with the MacToys, the SPARCstack and on the forums here lately, thanks for putting up with me gang!

Everyone have a great time for all the Holidays, for every Season, Winter/Summer, Fall plenty or first fruits of Spring, in and around both hemispheres at this joyous time of year.

peace,

jt

LOL! ;) The LittleRedPixelRocket™ only looks faster!!!!!!!!)

How about posting pics of both sides of yours for me? I've never actually seen the green one in the wild, Is yours the Radius Card or the 24/AC?

According to LowEndMac's info, the Radius version does more resolutions and I've always wondered what they were.

If they're only tweeners or at more MHz choices, it's no biggie, but if one of them is 1280 x 1024 x ANYTHING, iWannaFind1! :approve:

Thankfully, the Highway Patrol thinks SOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Mine's only a maroon vroom! [)] ]'>

edit: actually the Jolly Roger SIMM ROMs are probably faster, than the OEM ROMs, but likely not so much that a 68k Mac would care! [}:)] ]'>

I feel for ya! I just got off a year's probation (for getting caught) for speeding 15 MPH over the speed limit in friggin' Connecticut, over 800 Mi. from here, almost two years ago . . . Connecticut wanted my $300 and NC finally figured out that they wanted my license for three months for my first speeding ticket in over 40 years of driving . . . 10 MONTHS after the fact . . . pissants!

I've gotten two speeding tickets in my life. Both were during "Zero Tolerance" driving through Sacramento.

The first I got for doing 70 in a 65 zone. The second I got doing 75 in a 70 zone. Both were within 5 MPH, which I had erroneously assumed was within some sort of margin of error. Whenever I mention, people assure me that there is a margin of error, and that I must be mistaken, until I show them my speeding tickets.

I suppose Zero Tolerance means just that, regardless of any margin of error exceptions that my or may not be on the books.

I've heard from other people that some states have a 10 MPH margin of error. For me, it would appear, it's 0. So I drive the speed limit much to the annoyances of other drivers, but I am courteous and I pull over when I can to let people pass if there is no passing lane.

10 MONTHS after the fact
Ah, good old DMV/Law Enforcement. Oh, we forgot about your speeding incident a while ago, so we are going to do x to you, for the terrorism/idiocy of the state. (Cough, tax revenue and power trips by pointless local officials)

Anyways, it is amazing to see how many cards a IIfx can actually hold without overloading. I tried 3 rockets, does not work due to the amount of amps they pull.

I will oust myself as the comrade that will be receiving a glorious red pixel rocket and Q950, in return I will be giving the op a Radius Rocket 33 with SCSI-II booster and a PLI QuickSCSI (I do believe its a rev.1). :beige:

Speaking of that I need to stuff the 2 cards in a nubus mac and send you screenshots.

And yes, red makes anything go faster. ;D
