i know for sure it will work in a 6200 as i have a 5500 motherboard in my 6200

I did both of those. I was unable to find any reports of 5400/5500 boards in 630s, only other combinations. It would feel a little strange sliding a PCI motherboard into a 68k hence I made the topic.

It will work, but you'll need to either hack in a 3.3v regulator, or use a power supply from a Performa 6360.

The Power Colour Classic site is probably the best resource for this hack - see there the differences between using a 630 and 5400 board in a CC, and deduce from that what you need to do to the 630. Essentially, (from memory) what LCGuy said.

Of course, if it fits, the 5400's PS will work.

Hello,

Here is my powermacs motherboard/chassis experience:

5500 <==> 5400 OK

5300 <==> 5200 OK

5200/5300 <==> 5400/5500 Fits but doesn't work

(note: theses experiences did not damage any hardware)

LC630 is a 68K mac, I don't think putting a 5400 motherboard in it will work.

Meanwhile Richard, please do report back on progress, success, failure or other. It helps us build up a searchable database for future attempts. Ta
