Over 25 Macs liberated from Humble I.S.D

Biggest liberation ever.

I won the Macs at school auction. The grand total came out to $18.18 USD for the entire lot (3 auctions). I had to get a U-HAUL to carry all of it and it cost more than the Macs did.

The lot consists of LC 575, 580, Power Mac 5200, 5260, 5400, and 5500. There's also an Apple IIe Platinum with matching display, 15" Multiscan display, and enough keyboards and mice to drive you crazy. For some reason the auction also included a bag of Microsoft serial and PS/2 mice (WTF?) and a Compaq PS/2 keyboard.

They are all sitting in my apartment right now, except for about 6 or so which are at a friend's house. The plan is to clean them up, and resell the majority of them for reasonable prices to those interested in such things. I might put some educational software on some of them to sell to people for their kids. Some of the newer ones like the 5260, 5400, and 5500 could be made into internet machines. The 5200/75s and 68Ks are probably too slow for that. Some of the Macs will be parted out if they have, for example a broken CRT.

We'll see how it goes. Nobody bid on these Macs except for me. More than likely they would have been disposed of which would have been terrible.

Wow - that is certainly an amazing number of Macs! The Apple IIe is a very nice little bonus as well - you don't often find them for cheap these days.

Holy liberation batman!

While I would be killed instantly by the SO for doing something like that, I must congratulate you.

Very nice.

I always wanted a 5500. They make great TVs. I even have the TV tuner kit for them in my storage. I don't live in the US tho so I can't have yours :(

One of the 5200s has the TV input, tested it earlier. Works pretty well! A few have A/V in and/or out, some have ethernet. It's a good variety. Nothing was wiped, so they have all the old school software on them.

There's a 7200/120 PC Compatible but it's wiped, I'm gonna get software on it and play around with the PC card which I always thought were neat.

The Platinum IIe will probably be sold since I already have a IIe (beige one). Unfortunately the platinum is missing a key.

Ooo, a 575. Great donor if you have a CC sitting about.

My uni had a lab of CCs back in the day. I wish I'd stayed in touch with people there...I wonder if they had an auction when upgrade time came?

There's been a recount. We are now at over 35 Macs. Of the 30 I have, here's the breakdown:

5260/120 - 10

5500/225 - 3

LC 580 - 9

5200/75 LC - 4

LC 575 - 3

5400/120 - 1
