OS X and ATI Rage Pro

Hmm, doesn't look good. Is there any chance of getting OS X working with an ATI Rage Pro 128? It looks like they have completely dropped support for this card. :(

What system are you trying to run it on?? I have Tiger in my Digital Audio and it originally came with a Rage 128 AGP and it worked fine for me. Keep in mind that the Rage doesn't come with a lot of memory, so you won't be able to do 3d with textures. When I tried using it with EQ Mac, I could see all the objects, but they were all blank because there was not enough memory to load in the textures. I got a Radeon 9700 flashed with a Mac ROM and all my problems went away.

An x86 Athlon ... *ahem* [:I] ]'>

[edited to add] Sorry, I probably should have specified that earlier. This seemed the nearest equivalent as these machines made common use of the card.

You need to ask this question over at the OSX/86 project.

What you also have to remember is that video cards need a Mac ROM to run on a Mac. I'm not sure MacOS on a generic PC is going to work properly with an added video card that has a PC ROM.

Mac OS X on a PC Card (PC ROM) does work. The ROM is specifically for hardware purposes and isn't involved in communicating with the OS. That's what drivers are for.

Anyway, i've run PC Graphics Cards in my OSX86 box (only one, and it died) and it successfully booted to OS X. Although my card was an NVIDIA GeForce.
