Original Portable Install Disks?

I hope this is within the rules of the forum to ask for, but I'm after the original install disks for the Portable.

Does anyone have spare copies or able to send me backup disk images?

Please PM me :)

No problem.  I was surprised at how hard it was to find (I mean not really because I basically eventually went back to the first place I'd look anyway).  But it is pretty obscure; I didn't try to look specifically for the tour disk and I can't download that CD right now to look at the contents.

Got the download thanks!

Oh and I just checked in my floppy disk drawer and there was a disk of the tour!

Would you consider sharing a disk image of the tour, assuming that one isn't available online?  I don't have a portable and don't plan to get one (soon anyway) but I do sort of have a personal cache of stuff that I've found that's hard to find.  I figure why not since it costs me almost nothing.

Yeah that'd be fine, I've already made an image of it.

What's the best way to share? Maybe PM me somewhere I can send it to you?

Thank you so much for pointing out the Macintoshgarden link. I never bothered to check Restoration CDs, now I will !

I will try it out on my SE/30, my portable can't boot right now ;(

James, Did you upload the tour yet? I can't find it on macintosh garden?

ahem, it seems the macintosh garden link is corrupted. I get an error when I try to open it with disk utility on osx and with toast itself on os9...

@badgoldeagle no, but I'm happy to do so when I get a moment. PM me your email address if you want sooner :)

I managed to get that restoration CD to download and mount OK, but disk utility didn't like it. Toast Titanium 5 managed to open it alright, but a standard 6.0.8 installer should work with your Portable too - I used one successfully

I will try toast titanium 5.

I had an older version which didn't like it.

There's no hurry for the tour, I have no working portable right now... ;)

I was wandering if I was using the search tool correctly, as I didn't see it there.

Hi all

Sorry to hijack an old thread BUT

I spent 100 usd on 4 original floppy disks. That's a lot for 4 disks but they are quite rare, you can't find them anywhere on the web, except the inside macintosh portable hypercard stack available on macintoshgarden.org

So I will upload the disk images on macintosh garden, that is:

# Portable Update (for the m5126)

# Portable Product Sampler

# Inside the Macintosh Portable

# Your Apple tour of the Macintosh Portable

The Apple tour is quite tricky apparently, so i will make a .dsk image. I don't know which software I should use though, can somebody help me so i can help you ? ;)

I tried the lot: OSX Mavericks' Disk Utility, Os9's Disk Copy and Toast Titanium 5. I even tried to open it on a windows 7 pc with no luck. I always get an "image not recognised" or error -34 with this file.

Anyway, I don't really need this software any more. Yesterday I found some french 6.0.7 images (it seems that since os7 came out before 6.0.8, the latter was never "translated" to french...)

But since .7 and .8 are pretty similar (I think the printer settings were somewhat closer to os7's on . , I think it will be ok for my portable.

The tour is tricky because it can only be opened from a Macintosh Portable. I read somewhere that you can't just copy the contents because it just wouldn't work. That's why I need a .dsk.
