They had the good ones thankfully but yes I figure might as well if I'm doing the whole thing.Cool! Looks so weird. Thanks for the video!
Are you replacing the RIFAs?
That's a relief - I had to replace the two RIFAs recently on my Plus as they were on the verge of blowing (super cracked!).They had the good ones thankfully but yes I figure might as well if I'm doing the whole thing.
Yeah I know the feeling has a 128k blow one right in my face as I was poking around the analog board ( with a plastic tool)That's a relief - I had to replace the two RIFAs recently on my Plus as they were on the verge of blowing (super cracked!).
Was it on when you were poking it? I was so scared of my Plus's RIFAs going I'd unplug it whenever I didn't use it.Yeah I know the feeling has a 128k blow one right in my face as I was poking around the analog board ( with a plastic tool)
Yeah but it wasn't bad it just smokes, they aren't really necessary. Was it on when you were poking it? I was so scared of my Plus's RIFAs going I'd unplug it whenever I didn't use it.
Apparently if you leave them out it's bad for your house's AC line. That's just something I heard from others so not sure if it's true.Yeah but it wasn't bad it just smokes, they aren't really necessary.
Yeah well that's what it is it filters mains input.Apparently if you leave them out it's bad for your house's AC line. That's just something I heard from others so not sure if it's true.
I wonder if it's possible for a Mac Plus to sustain damage from a lack of RIFAs? Also, do you know if the SE has RIFAs? I'm too nervous to poke around mine to check.Yeah well that's what it is it filters mains input.
No need to be nervous, Just need to discharge the CRT. I attached a video below showing you how to do that. And if I recall almost all Power Supplies in these compacts had at least one RIFA.I wonder if it's possible for a Mac Plus to sustain damage from a lack of RIFAs? I actually used this video when replacing my Plus's RIFAs! The SE is scary to me because it's got an inconsistent high pitched whine, has that massive neck board, and there is a HDD taped on top of the two 800K drives. I tend to leave it alone for these reasons. Interesting they all have at least one RIFA, as the Plus has 3.No need to be nervous, Just need to discharge the CRT. Whine sounds like Flyback, why don't you post it a thread?I actually used this video when replacing my Plus's RIFAs! I've been meaning to do that but I haven't been able to capture footage of it (It's too inconsistent). Maybe I'll give it a go now!Whine sounds like Flyback, why don't you post it a thread?
