Modern 30pin SIMM Brands?

What does the failure mode look like for the board thickness issue?

A nice zebra pattern on my screen, frozen right away. I've tried applying pressure to them while turning the system on (which is a bit more difficult with 4 compared to just pressing on 1 ROM), but not getting it right.

I suspect its contacts but it might also be an issue with my SE/30 (eg. failed U-something). The SIMMs do not fit snugly like the older ones. Mailing the SIMMs to a friendly forum member who will try them in his SE/30.

I did manage to pull 4x4 with parity from my box of collected junk that work just fine, so I'm at 32MB now.

Thanks that's helpful. In my case the modern 4x4MB sticks I bought allow my SE/30 to boot but they weirdly show up as 24MB. I've gotten NOS 4x4MB sticks and they show up as the expected 16MB, so I'm pretty sure the modern ones are faulty (they don't work in my Quadra 700 at all, and that's got incredibly tight SIMM slots, almost death grip like so I don't feel like the thinness should be an issue in it). I'm in the process of swapping with the seller though so time will tell once I get the replacements.

Thanks all for the feedback on the OWC SIMMs.

I bought a 4x16 set from Slaton. Nice guy, good support. The SIMMs however do not fit snugly in the sockets, they’re quite thin. Maybe that is the root cause.
That's odd, I have those exact SIMMs on my IIci (4x16 Slaton's) and they work perfectly fine, yes they are thin but have never given me any issues. I will say this, I was having intermittent freezing on my SE FDHD and a member suggested that SE's do not like 2 Chip SIMMs, which I had removed from my IIci when I replaced/upgraded them with the Slaton's. I then purchased 4x1's from Memory Masters on ebay which were 8 Chip SIMMs and all of my intermittent lockup issues completely went away. I wonder if you are having similar issues with 2 Chip SIMM's in your SE/30? Just food for thought.

Good Luck and I hope you get this figured out ASAP!
