Hello everyone,

I made a short YouTube video detailing the restoration process of my Macintosh SE/30. The video is the first part of what I plan to be a series about restoring the computer.

Enjoy! :)

Nice video. Are you going to recap the analog board and PSU? I would highly recommend that too (apologies if you mention this in your video, I watched it on mute). JDW made a great video on how to recap the SONY PSU - although I see yours has an Astec but the process should be similar unless you want to swap a modern ATX replacement in there or swap a SONY CR-44 in.

What is the tall standing card sitting in the PDS slot of your SE/30 ?

Absolutely! This machine will receive a complete recapping: Logic Board, Analog Board, and PSU.

Strangely enough, my machine had neither a SONY PSU or an Astec PSU. It was a strange OEM Apple-branded PSU that was completely corroded and unusable from capacitor leak damage. I replaced it with a recapped SONY PSU.

This is my network card. It is a strange Asante MacCon variant that is older than the more compact ones which can fit in a Mac IIsi. Even though it has an RJ45 ethernet port, the card predates that standard, and the RJ45 jack is not even hooked up. I have to use ThinNet to get anything to work.

I enjoyed watching the video. You did a great job explaining your approach. I look forward to seeing Part 2!

Thanks for sharing. Doing The same for my SE/30 including the Apple branded PSU. All capacitors being replaced except for the huge 420uF 400V cap in the PSU. Not only is Th is capacitor no longer produced but the one I pulled from my PSU tests PERFECT on my ESR meter. :)
