I am looking at picking up one of these drives along with a 80pin to 50 pin adapter for the Q700. I pulled the docs for the drive, it states there is a jumper setting on the drive to force it into Single Ended Mode. From reading this means it should work in my mac correct?

Check that your 80-to-50 pin adapter has a termination setting. Not all of these adaptors do (as I have found out) and it is a nuisance in a machine like a Quadra 700 where you probably have no other SCSI devices.

My guess is that you are correct. However, I check for 8-bit SCSI support in the docs otherwise you are going to need a FWB JackHammer or an ATTO SiliconExpress IV.

Drives working can be a quite random occourance, from what i have read backwards compatibility with scsi1 was in the scsi spec for U160 but it was removed from the U320 spec, so U160 drives are a better bet (as for if being able to set it to single ended helps, i don't know) Another thing worth looking out for is some drives actually have a narrow mode, any drive with a narrow mode should work

Also, just so you know, I make and sell terminated 50pin to 80pin adapters (which also have the 8 unused data lines terminated on the 80 pin hdd, allowing some of the more fussy drives to work)
