I have a case for an LCIII......I'm wondering, what computer could I stick in there? The case I have only has a dead LCIII mobo....so I figured that maybe I could put another mobo or something and use this case since its so sleek....thanks

LC, LC II, LC III, LC 475, Quadra 605. Those are what come to mind immediately. The Quadra 605 is the only one of those machines that uses a different style case... and most people prefer that to the LC style case. I wouldn't take the board from one of those computers just to put it into an LC III case, but if you happen across an extra board, go for it!

The LC case differs in format to the later LC family. From memory, the speaker and power pickup for the fan are different. Some adaptation is required when swapping a later board into an LC case, or an LC board into a later case.

Again from memory, isn't the 605 board the same as a 475 but a different gestalt ID?

I didn't really think about the LC being a bit different, but I guess that would make sense since it supports dual-floppies. Your correct the 605 and 475 use the same board and (without looking it up) I'm pretty sure the gestalt ID's are different.

The boards are identical - just the case is different. You can change the gestalt by just moving a jumper.... as soon as i found out this news (many years ago that is) I immediately changed my 475 onto a 605, but then a few days later I changed it back coz it just didn't feel right [:)] ]'>

I've had that jumper on my LC475 for at least 4 years now. :D It looks cooler reporting as a Quadra rather than an LC. :D

I think I moved that jumper on mine when I swapped the 040LC for a straight 040. In my book even in a 475 case it's spiritually a Quadra if it has a working FPU :)

It is a Quadra. My Performa 631CD has a full 040 in it.
