IIci and DaynaPort E/II-T

I've been pulling out my old hardware and setting up a network. I have a IIci I've been setting up as a file server. It currently has a DaynaPort E/II-T NuBus Ethernet card in it (and a 50MHz upgrade) and I've been setting it up as an AppleShare 3 server to NetBoot a couple of IIgses and serve files.

Right now I have 7.6.1 on it, and I'm trying to find some working drivers for the DaynaPort card. I downloaded 7.7.2 and I'm not getting any response in the TCP/IP control panel

This 50MHz upgrade, an accelerator card or a clock boost on the motherboard? If its an accelerator, remove it and see if it works. If its a motherboard clock hack, then you need to revert the IIci back to it 25MHz as the I/O can't go that fast. TCP/IP should have picked up the card without the driver with only basic service; the driver adds to basic services of TCP/IP.

As is, a 25MHz Mac IIci is more than enough for basic network file services as everything is based on the speed of the I/O and the network and not the CPU.

Well, I've had issues getting my Farallon card to work.  If I used the Apple supplied MacTCP & AppleTalk software, it doesn't work.  If I use the copies supplied on the Farallon disk, it works.  They're the same version number, too.

I've yet to compare them with ResCompare, maybe Farallon's adds an identifier or something to make it work.  Could be something similar with the DaynaPort.

Also, I'm not aware of a clock chip for IIci.  If it's a 50MHz accelerator, probably an 030 Daystar or something similar.

It's the old DayStar 030. I think I have a cache card for it as well. I'll try something like that.

Also I'm going to try to fix the install. It's unfortunately a folder and not a disk, so the installer is choking.

Try making a disk image of the folder, then run the installer from the mounted disk image.

Can you see the cards MAC address in the TCPIP control panel? 

I recently had to learn how to get a Daynaport E/30 to work in my SE/30 and got confused by the hardware diagnostics throwing errors at me, an error to be ignored. However it has issues negotiating with network hardware. Luckily a small 10/100 in between the SE/30 and my router solves the issue.

Try an older Netgear 5 or 8 port 10/100 switch.  They're dirt cheap and seem to work with older hardware.
