Here comes the Macminitosh!

A three year old thread...interesting

BTW a big BOOO goes out to Flickr for requiring a sign-in to view the album which is actually turned out to be private. I don't care for PB that much but at least I can make public albums that don't nag you for a login AND then require a new account.

I love thread archaeology! :approve:

I recently got a dry cutting diamond wheel for my Roto-Zip, but I'm waiting and hoping to find a thinner, wet cutting wheel to fit my Right Angle and Straight Pneumatic Grinders. The dark glass of the original CRT is a big plus for the frosted rear-projection screen application in the MacintoshClassicIIIColorTVp™ Hack. I won't have to use as much neutral density filtering.

I also want to rip the 17" Tube from my B&W Studio Display into two halves to use as vacuum forming bucks for a Plexi MacQuarium Hack. Form on the outside of the CRT face and mounting ears, but do a deep draw into the CRT Neck for the backside of the MacQuarium.

I'd love to see the original pics uploaded here, but if I have to, I'll dig out my account password . . . :p

Wow, it's been a long time!

Actually the Macminitosh is now "dormant"… I sold my Mini about a year ago. I kept the SE case and all the cables and stuff, though. Maybe I'll put another Mac in there some time!

How are you able to get the LCD connected to the mini???
The LCD has standard VGA. First it was connected through an Apple DVI to VGA converter. Then I changed it for a Kensington VGA to USB converter, so I could use the Mini's DVI port with a HDMI cable to my TV.

My fault, sorry! I forgot about this thread and deleted that gallery. Another one can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/solsyl/sets/72157629437538092/.

Trash80, could you ar another mod edit the original post with that new link?

What would be even better, superpantoufle, is if you could upload these images as local attachments to a new post. That way they will be available whatever happens to offsite services.

Nice project, not a fan of the CD drive hole, whose still uses disks anyways ) .

Love that monitor! Do you know if it can handle RGB? I would love to have it just for all my retro systems so much easier then keeping all those crts around.

Yes!

Why not? But wouldn't it make more sense tu attach them to this post? Actually I have to confess that my Macminitosh is retired. It was way cooler to build it than to use it... I sold the Mini last year, but kept my custom SE case and the monitor for who knows what the next project is!

Imho it would be weird to post now pictures of a 3-4 years old projet!

Not weird at all. The 68kMLA is all about history, hacks included.

Your hack was one of the Masterpieces that need to be preserved for the inspiration of others. You inspired me to try the Color Rear Projection Hack to my Classic.

IMHO, it's far better for us to be our own "Wayback Machine" than to have a bunch of borked threads. My posts in the Forum Archives are full of broken links to pics from when I went AWOL along with my iDisk back then.

I know what you mean about hacking something only to wind up not using it. At least you completed yours, mine tend to run in parallel for long periods of time while I wait for parts availability or development tools to come down to affordable price levels. Some never make it past the proof of concept stage for that very reason, hacking is its own reward.

Please update/upload your images, I'm sure any of the other mods would be as happy to edit them into your posts wherever you'd like them as I would be. :approve:

Ah, pardonnez-moi. I meant, to attach them as a new comment on this thread, not as a new thread.

Ok, then here is a new album on flickr with most pictures of the Macminitosh:

It's the album I uploaded at Bunsen's request for that other thread. May I suggest Bunsen or Trash edit the original post of this thread with the new link? Thanks!

Here we go! No guarantee that they're in the same order as the flickr gallery.

If anyone needs to re-use an image in another post, copy the image link and paste it in between tags.
