Help! 20th Anniversary Mac not turning on

Hey,

I just received a 3GB HD to put in my TAM. Pulled the old drive, formatted new one with my MacBook, etc. Well, I put the TAM back together, plugged it into the base unit, and now it will chime, but no green light and no display. Tried restarting via keyboard as well as turning it off and on via the back switch. Sometimes I'll have to do this, as the PRAM battery is bad. However, I've never had it not start up.

Unplugged it again and reseated the RAM, G3 card, PCI riser, and did a CUDA reset, but still no luck. xx(

ANy help?

Try doing a PRAM reset.

- Restart the TAM

- Immediately after the startup tone, press and hold down Apple (Command) + Option + P + R. Hold them down for 3 chimes, then let go.

Replace the PRAM battery with a Ray-o-vac Alkaline 4.5v Model #870 or 871 (or equivalent). Radio $hack should carry this particular type of battery.

73s de Phreakout. :rambo:

This is exactly why I didn't want to upgrade mine. They are a very niche product and don't seem to like HDD changes for some reason. I'm sure there is someone out there who knows how to fix this.

js! How goes it :)

TAM's are picky about PRAM batteries, so phreakout is on the money. If no luck, disconnect power, PRAM battery, and leave it be for 48 hours.

Good thanks Byrd, thanks again for helping me out. Loving the TAM, especially the BOSE sound!

How's your TAM?
