Forum Suggestion: System 6, 7 , 8 ,9 Sub-Forums?

I was thinking that maybe instead of just the "Software" forum we could have Sub-Forums for each of the system softwares up to OS 9? I'm not sure if this has been discussed before... But to me it sounds like a good Idea.

And also ------------------->

The date we joined and the exact time is a bit to specific... Maybe someone could switch that out for like Postcount (Well, Maybe not because that may increase the amount of PostCount++), or something different. I just don't think that is very useful...

Well of course this is all MHO.

Thanks for reading!

Post count would be a horrendous idea because we've had trouble with it in the past.

Back before the Great Crash of 2007 we had a post count display and actually had ranks based on post count (the ranks were similar to those of an actual army). However, we had people who were making trivial or irrelevant posts simply to increase their post count and rank. This is actually why we now have custom profile pictures--back then your picture was determined by the number of posts one had made.

On the other forums I'm a part of the post count does exist and ranks are assigned based on post count on some of them. It has never been a problem for those forums but then again most of them are larger communities where information is valued more highly than a sense of community. Community comes with its set of problems, as we have definitely figured out lately on this forum, but it does make for a better overall experience.

A lot of what applies to System 6, 7, 8, or 9 also applies to each other. Additionally, the volume of posts is not that great. I don't think sub-forums are needed.

This is a bad idea and a waste of time.

Why would we want so many sub-forums?

Simply leaving things in the Software forum is fine. There is no need to change how things are being done at this point in time.

The current software forum doesn't have enough posting traffic to warrant splitting it up into sub-forums. Like others have said, most system software discussion between System 7 and 9 are applicable to each other.

I assume ~tl will probably come in later on and back up what I'm saying, but yeah, its not going to happen, as others have said there's no need for it since what applies to one version will usually also apply to another. Creating subforums would just complicate things and make the forum look messy.
