Flashing ATI card

I picked up a ati pc card thinking maybe I could flash it for mac, but I have not found a rom for this setup

AtI Rage 128 Pro with 512K flash cmos rom

(sticker says)

Xpert 2000 Pro Ultra 32M AGP (2x / 4x)

Any info or is just something to toss in the old video card pile?

Thanks

I may be wrong on this, but I don't think you can flash Rage 128 AGP cards for use on a Mac, only PCI.

FYI a Rage 128 is the slowest performing video card that ever shipped in G4 Macs. You'll probably want to look for something faster, such as a ATI Radeon 8500/9000.

That card is almost certainly not compatible with Macs out of the box (in case you were confused by the fact they keep mentioning Mac over and over again in the description).

It may be flash-able though.

I was interested in this card for the reasons you mentioned, but it was more the fact that I currently make very little money. I get a $17.00 bi-weekly allowance from my parents, and any other money I make is through loose change or from various chores around the house. I really wanted to upgrade my Sawtooth, and this was the only card I could afford to buy within a reasonable timeframe.
I have considered getting a job, but I am currently very busy with school, and it's harder for students like me to get a job at this time of year.

It'll be great when I can finally move out of the house and have a steady job. :p

The 128 is perfectly adequate given your budget constraints. For flashing information google themacelite. You may not be able to do a card with a 512K flash, off the top of my head.

Put on a post on your local PC hardware enthusiast forum, and ask for a free Geforce 2 MX (not MX200 or MX400 brands); a nice upgrade from any crappy Rage 128 and would only cost you shipping! Also needs to be flashed, but about 2/3rds do - go an ASUS card if you can.

I just got that 10 buck ebay card listed above today, altho technically i dont have a mac to test it on so I dont know the condition

I have owned 2 geforce 2's, both pc's ... First one was a geforce 2 GTS pro, and in the end what ended its daily use was the lack of pixel shaders .... in like 2006

the other was a 2mx pci, it quickly found a home in a ~50$ build for someones mom

But im glad to be able to quit hording agp cards, so the agp mx2 will do just fine (im not going to be playing crysis on this thing)

now just wish me luck on my bid for a new cpu card, and i should be up and running
