I am posting this because I wish it had shown up in Google when I was googling about my issue.
Using a Duo 2300c with 7.6.1:
I recently acquired an ethernet microdock and experienced freezes whenever I attempted sustained file transfers (downloads in iCab, over FTP, or using AppleShare) though "lightweight" things like Ping, telnet, web browsing worked fine.
I was using version 1.2 of the Newer's Ethertech drivers because it's what came on the floppy I received with the microdock. Updating to version 1.5 of the Ethertech drivers (as far as I can tell, the newest), resolved this issue. This can be downloaded here: http://main.system7today.com/helpcenter.html
Not sure what the incompatibility was with 1.2 (OS or hardware), but 1.5 has me humming along nicely!
