Finder 1.0

Omg ok FYI plus and up hate system 1 and / or 400k disks. My plus bombs with it, my color classic just reading and ejecting the same 400k disk shut the screen off. It is so strange and repeatable.

Gonna pull out the 512 and 128 and see if it plays a little better.

I would think so, its not supported by those systems. The ROMs just don't jive with 1.0.

Huh, the Color Classic makes sense - it's not a 68000.

But the Plus should be able to run it. My SE and Classic could run even the earliest System/Finder just fine. You can't access a hard drive or 800K disks, but it boots just fine.

Yeah, that sounds like my experience as well.

Was there a minimum SSW version required for the HD20 software?

It would make sense if there was, but I don't know off hand what it was.

My Plus seems OK with System 1/Finder 1 disks. I have a couple of very old system disk images in the collection that comes with Floppy Emu, including System 0.9 I think. Could you be hitting a problem with a bad disk?

I meant the color classic with system 7.5 lost its mind when using the 400 k disk, yes you are correct it won't boot system 1.0. The plus booted but thats when it bombed.

Been a while since I messed with 400 k disks but these were what came with that dead motherboard 128, apple branded ones. So I was just seeing what was on them. Finder 1.0 but tell the system.

Wow, that is strange - 7.5 shouldn't completely freak out trying to read a 400K disk...

I have booted a Classic with 1.0 (it may have been 1.1, actually) and it worked fine.

Basically, anything with the original 68000 processor except the Portable/PB100 will boot with an older version of the system. It just won't work with all the features of said system (such as a lack of a brightness control panel for the Classic).
