Color Classic!

Yesterday I found a Color Classic advertised on the locally popular equivalent to craigslist.  Seller said it would not power on, but I know CC logic boards are relatively plentiful and I thought I'd take a chance.

It's in really nice condition with virtually no yellowing.  It came with a Syquest 44 drive with a cartridge, an Apple Keyboard II similarly unyellowed, and a box for an Extended Keyboard which seemed odd but whatever.  I have never encountered a Syquest before, this being Iomega country.  But it seems pretty cool, and I've been wanting to get one but not bad enough to chase one down and actually pay for it.

Took it home and it booted right up, no problems.  Yay!  Apparently the seller wasn't aware of the soft power button and assumed when he flipped the switch and got no reaction that it was just dead.

It needs a recap of course, and it barely dodged the battery bullet:

The battery had started to leak, but it only corroded one end of the battery terminal.  This could have been SO much worse.

I don't really have any plans to replace the logic board, or to do the 640x480 mod.  I expect to upgrade the RAM but otherwise I'm happy to keep it as-is. I already have other machines of that era that can do 640x480+ for the games that need  it.

All told, $50 plus a 60 mile car trip.  Been doing the happy dance ever since.

Yep, that's the one.

Based on what I've seen here, that would have been a little closer for you I think.  A couple of others here too.  I was a little panicked that someone else would have snatched it up before I got there.
