Please post back here if you ever go through FromJapan for something else. Basically you need a friend in Japan that can send you stuff back, a lot of bigger eBay vintage computer sellers clearly do this and do quite well I'd say.
Will do bid on a couple of things but didn't win yet. I feel like I read a post of yours regarding PowerBook 2400s after replace the CCLF bulb and buying a cheap CCLF tester on Amazon it looks like I've got a couple bad inverters any suggestion on thing to test on the inverter board?

FPU is running OK?! Nice :)

Might be worth running TechTool 3.0 on it to make sure.
Good suggestion I'll get that downloaded and give that a try. Next time I buy something used with PGA CPU I'll check to make sure it installed correctly 😂

I'll post additional updates but I just won a Quadra 700 which powers on using FromJapan. They send lots of email thru the bidding process, got an email that I won and the first charge for the item in this case $118 dollar will see what shipping is I'll post that when I find out. I will say their website is pretty easy to use and work well on my iPhone. The filters would be better if they had subcategories but you can filter on computers.

So here the second update the Quadra 700 arrive at their warehouse they will store for 45 days for free. Fees broke down as follows 300 yen handling 1600 yen domestic shipping and 1600 yen taxes so roughly $25. shipping choices are basically FedEx 12500 yen around $85 or surface 6800 yen or $47 so the total will be somewhere between $190-230 depending on the shipping option I choose. Which considering it powers on seems like a decent price when compared to eBay, but no surprise goodies. Based on the pictures it looks like it looks to be in good shape but the nubus cards it probably had and the hard drive were pull out. Having used FedEx with buyee before I'm guessing I'll receive the computer in a couple days after sending payment, but I think that's just because I'm close to Seattle. One odd thing about FromJapan site while the auction is live clicking on an item take you to a page on their site of the listing that's in English. After the the auction closed it links directly to Yahoo in Japanese. Also it seems like Buyee show more details about the package size and weight but that might change after I pay for shipping. I'll add another update once it arrives.

Not related to the Color Classic but figure it would be silly to start another thread just to talk about junk I bought. Picked up four more Macs in the last couple weeks The Quarda 700 on FromJapan, I found a SE on Craigslist for $50 dollars originally planned on using the case for an SE/30 I have with a damaged case already moved parts around. But a few days ago I was working and the power went out. Picked up my cell phone and checked ebay there was a listing for a Complete SE/30 untested for parts the cases is in go shape the rest is a mystery but it was $100 with shipping so I jumped on it. Worst case senerio the parts currently in the SE will get move into this case. Last one was IIci on Mecardi bit dirty and discolored but the listing had lots of pictures and plus I bought a computer from the seller before. Logic Board doesn't have any visible damage includes a Radius 8-xj video card and the cache card that one was $130. I feel like my computer acquiring phase is almost at an end I'd like one PCI PowerMac maybe an 8500 since it looks Quadra 840av but I wish there was a smaller option simlar in size to the IIci and a fully functioning 2400c. After that I'm guessing it will just be goodies to put into all these computers.

I’ve never actually bought on FromJapan but I thought they were basically the same thing. I paid similar prices on Buyee ($140-240) for large items to be shipped to the US. They seem reasonable and actually not that much higher than some eBay sellers charge to ship across state lines. Surprisingly, even the large items shipped from Japan usually arrive (in Atlanta) in 2-3 days. I’ve had some arrive via DHL and some via FedEx, both super fast.

One other thing that I like about Buyee (not sure if FromJapan is the same) is that they repackage large items using molded foam, pretty much guaranteeing it’s safe arrival. In contrast, I’ve had eBay items shipped from US arrive broken and in pieces due to poor packaging.

They do this when you pay for extra protection, Im assuming? I’ve often hesitated to pick up Color Classics and whatnot because I assumed they wouldn’t arrive intact, but molded foam would be worth the extra expense.

Yeah, if I remember correctly it’s like a $15 service, but imho it’s totally worth it given the fragility of some of these items.

Well two computers arrived today the SE/30 logic board is garbage but everything else is good which means my second SE/30 logic board has a proper home and the SE logic board will good back into the SE case so for $100 shipped I'm happy. the IIci appears to be in decent shape but no sound or video when powered on figure it needs a recap plus UH1 had corrosion it was so bad pin one broke off while cleaning it. Still debating Air vs Sea on the Quadra and whether I'll buy anything else prior to having it shipped. Another plus I've noticed for Buyee you can see how much items in your watch list sold for on FromJapan they get clear from your watch list and I haven't figured out how to pull them back up.

Figured I needed one so I just bid and one a beat up Quadra 650 but has a PPC upgrade which is why I bought. Hopefully shipping isn't too bad. I'm thinking I'll I need to do is track down a nice video card and NIC an I'll be good for the Quadra 700.

Interesting that it is not a “Colo-yur” Classic. Was the British-English variety limited only to the UK and Australia, or did they wind up in Canada, etc, too?

While I familar with the British spelling I didn't realize they badged them differently in the UK had to check that out found a couple pictures. Wouldn't mind having a Colour Classic or maybe just the badge to swap. Not sure what the called them in Canada.

Quadra 700 came yesterday working well feels much faster then my SE/30 with a daystar powercache 50mhz. I'm guessing it a combination of the faster CPU and video. Couldn't tell from the listing, but the vram is maxed out so that was a big plus. Noticed that FromJapan let you pull up invoices for you purchases total cost was just a bit under $240 dollar. As for fees I didn't get any add-ons so their fee was 300 yen. I think I'll continue using their service really want to see how package consolidation works with them, my only buyee experience with package consolidation wasn't great it actually ended up cost more then shipping separately.

Another random purchase this one from eBay picked up a performa 575 listed as not working for $100 shipped figured at that price I’d take a chance. Got it to boot without any issue needs a recap distorted audio. But I feeling really lucky. And boy is the plastic brittle two of the case screw mount were broken and managed to snap one the the back cover tab and the drive mount tab while working on it.

Also if your thinking of using fromjapan consolidated shipping appears to work well had a bunch of items waiting to ship got a quadra 650, 700 and 5 other small items Nubus cards and accelerators shipped for roughly $210 not cheap but overall didn’t seem too bad plus their web site made it easy to select items to consolidate and see the cost.

It was only one state over so a short trip but yes surprised it was working and also surprise the case didn’t crack for the price I wasn’t expecting much beside maybe the logic board being salvageable
