Wait, what is this Pirate Rom
Years back bbraun made a modified ROM for the 610, 650 and 800 that recognised 64MB banks, meaning that they worked with 128MB (2x64MB bank) SIMMs better. I think dougg3 made some custom programmable SIMMs and he or others flashed the custom ROM to them.

The ROM means a 610 can address 256MB + onboard.

In the 650 / 800 there is an issue that stops you putting in 4x 128, but you can do... 128+128+64+32+onboard, if I remember correctly.

and Centris Doubler? I have heard of the Quad Doubler but not a Centris specific one?
A Quadra is just a Centris that's slipped down the alphabet.

The Pirate ROM is the original DougG3 ROM before BMOW took over design & production. I think this one is 2 MB, with the original being 1 MB. Then later BMOW made the 8 MB ROM. The one I installed is the 3rd revision, I think. The 2nd revision I'm keeping because it's my favorite design. It has red glowing LEDs for the eyes. :) 1st revision only had pads for sockets which are difficult to solder on.

Visually I can't tell the difference between the Quad Doubler and Centris Doubler. They look identical. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The manual, however, says the Centris Doubler won't work in a Quadra, and that if you want an upgrade that works in both the Centris & Quadra, you must purchase the Quad Doubler. I don't have a Quadra in which to test this, so I'm assuming the manual is correct.

Thanks for the info. I have one of the updated ROM cards for my SE/30. So it can be flashed to give more features for a Centris/Quadra as well. Interesting.
