Yup,You are right. Its the right hook spring and the reason it came off is the top of the hook which is plastic is broken, so there is nothing to hold the top of the spring. I don't think it will effect printing. Do you think I need to find a replacement?

Now I printed 2 pages and they are not perfect.

Good to hear another is saved. You have probably two things going on at once, both issues happened to me. 1., bad toner blade, and 2., possibly bad drum. The bad toner blade causes the awful quality and splotches, and the drum probably has a deep scratch which causes the horizontal line. The problem is, is in the right conditions, the blade fuses to the drum and dissolves the coating, creating that line. It MIGHT go away with a new blade, so try a blade first. See my first reply on page 1 for details/links. Feel free to ask questions on how I did it. You can see the quality of a photo with a new blade in my networking thread.

99.8% chance no. They are just too old at this point. There is that very slim chance you find a 10 year old rebuilt one with a good blade... but good luck finding one. I saw a supposed "new" toner cartridge on ebay and amazon for these, but I doubt they are real. Look for HP 92295A or 95A.

Do you want to use this printer for real world use or just stare at it and turn it on once a year? If you want to daily use it, like mine, replace the blade, I can walk you through it. If you really have no use for the printer, there is a toner cartridge on ebay that I bought from the same lot of, and they work okay enough for once a year type of printing, I can tell you which one.

I plan on using the printer everyday and share it with my other Macs. I ordered a new 95 A and we will see what happenes . I can return if it doesn't work.


Then you can walk me through the blade replacement.

Do you have a way to get it on the network planned already, such as using MacIP and cups? Make sure you have a serial cable and Asante adapter ready to go as well...

Yup, I am getting the IIg board and I already have Asante adapter and have appetalk kits as back up

I went through many "new" 95A Toners when I restored my Laserwriter IIg. None were good. I did end up finding a couple of rebuilt ones on eBay, but that was a while ago. I also found blades and padding powder at a place in Arizona. Again, it was a while ago. Maybe 4 years.

I don't see any 92295 parts on there anymore, it seems that the supply of the last blades dried up about when you got yours.

I did see an almost exact match on there, however. https://www.precisionroller.com/fa9-2733-000-for-canon/details_pn_182.html It looks like it is exact? The only off thing is the blade metal frame width looks a little larger, but maybe it's the angle. Cheap enough to try out, I'd bet it fits close enough.

I did not use any padding powder on mine, but I did make sure the drum had some toner on it, and made sure to "soak" the blade in toner before installing, and also rotated the drum back and forth to lube it before closing it back up. I have some drum powder on hand now in case I do another.

I cross-referenced mine to that same part number. When I got the blade, I think I compared it to a blade from a 95A that I tore apart, and it was the same. A lot of printers used the Canon SX Engine.

Hold on, so the one pictured has the same part number of the one I linked, which is what you got and it is an exact match to the original? So there is a source of new blades then?

If this is true, I'm going to buy a few to stockpile...

I tried to find the documents I had when I figured this out. Can't find them. Somehow, I came up with that FA9-2733-000 Canon part number and bought two. One of mine has been opened, which is why I'm saying I think I compared it. If you have a bad 95A toner, take the blade out and I can compare the measurements to this one.
