ARM-based SE/30 hack!

I was surfing the web earlier this morning when I happened to find this.

Now there's some *serious* hacking involved! A few things he's done:

1) He's got an ARM-based computer running off the original power supply, if I'm not mistaken

2) He created his own PCB and video driver to drive the SE/30 CRT with the data taken from the ARM computer using the original analog board

3) He retained the original ADB keyboard and mouse by designing a control board that translates signals into USB-compatible data

4) He actually designed a way to modify the original floppy drive and turn it into a USB card reader while retaining the 3.5" floppy form factor and eject mechanism!

I think this is probably the most sophisticated and extreme example of classic mac modding I've ever, ever read of!

That was very cool.  It would be fun to try and make one. :)

Just FWI, I have no idea how to convince the search engine for this site to turn up all the relevant posts, but this has been talked about on the forum more than once. In this tread, for instance.

(Had to use Google's site: option to find that, running the same thing through the search box here turned up nothing.)

I totally missed that thread! Thanks gorgonops for pointing that out!

Perhaps some mod or admin could merge all the relevant information into one single topic to avoid redundancy?
