Apps in BlueSCSI V2 'shared' microSD folder give error message on Macintosh Plus OS 7.1

I used a shared 'SD' folder on the microSD card of my BlueSCSI V2 to copy old Macintosh Plus compatible files from my M1 Mac running MacOS Ventura to my Macintosh Plus running MacOS 7.1. But when I try to open that application in the Macintosh I get the error message 'The document "Disk Copy 4.2.app" could not be opened because the program that created it could not be found. I get the same error message for 'Stuffit 3.5.1. hda'. Any idea what the problem is, since these files are themselves applications? My understanding is that it should work.

don't really understand exactly what you're doing or trying to accomplish. perhaps some screenshots of what's in your SD card might help

i don't really know how the shared folder feature works myself. if you were using it to copy applications over you'd still need to unarchive them to the directory i'd imagine? and how the heck would that work with resource forks? maybe it stores stuff in appledouble? doubt it...

judging by the filename 'Stuffit 3.5.1. hda', these aren't applications, they're disk images. sys7.1 doesn't know what do with them.

Yes, something is wrong. Neither of these files should have extensions of any kind if they are valid pre-OS X applications. Screen shots of what you are doing and your setup would be very helpful.

Thanks very much, finkmac and LaPorta. I have an M1 Mac currently running macOS Sonoma, but these files were transferred to the sharing folder on the BlueSCSI microSD card using MacOS Ventura. Here's a screenshot of the type of error message I'm getting. You'll have worked out by now how little I know about the file systems on these old Macintoshes.

Yes, I’d be skeptical that these are applications at all. Something is wrong. Do you have some form of StuffIt working on there? I can easily send you software you can download on your modern Mac and then transfer.

Thanks LaPorta. If you can send me an uncompressed compatible version of Stuffit that I can just 'share' via BlueSCSI and copy across to my Macintosh Plus that would be great. Thanks!

try renaming "Stuffit 3.5.1. hda" to "HD5_Stuffit.hda" and putting it in the root of your SD card.
