AppleWorks/ClarisWorks...

Well, I just pulled my PowerBook 190cs out of storage because my Compaq for school just died, and I reconditioned the battery and updated to Mac OS 8 (had to compress and segment the installer files, then transfer via floppy.. 40 times), but when I went to grab AppleWorks off of my restore CD, It wasn't being read well by either my Mac Mini or my PowerMac 6150wgs. Is there a kind person out there who could possibly PM me AppleWorks/ClarisWorks 5 (or if 6 is 68k compatible)? I would very greatly appreciate it. I could offer some old software up I have here to trade in return.

I know I'm a new member who with few posts, but I've been a long-time member of InsanelyMac in case anyone knows me from there.

Wow, that was a fast response! AppleWorks 5 was originally loaded on it before I initialized the drive, so it should work fine. Thanks a million!

FOund an AW5 Installer! What format can I send it to you in? .img, .bin. .sit... I would prefer compressed.

Depending on how big it is, I'd just stuff it using whatever you have (stuffit 4?) and then binhex or macbinary the resulting .sit so it doesn't end up corrupted. I'd use macbinary because the size will stay the same. Depending on how big the install cd is, you could also just make an img of that.

Well, after a bit of converting a zip to a sit, I got it to open on my PB 190cs. Thanks for the help!

If anyone else needs this, I'll hold onto the .sit. Just drop a PM :)
