Anyone successfully installed A/UX 3.0.1 from ISO images on the net?

I yesterday tried to install A/UX 3.0.1 from those ISO-images that are floating around on the net. But failed. Whenever it got to installing the actual A/UX it complained about "Cannot mount "/dev/dsk/c100/d0s0" - Invalid argument.

But already earlier during the bootup phase and during disk partitioning I see strange messages appearing on the screen, log type of printouts directly to the screen buffer.

It says "Disk read C103d0s6 Error: Illegal request code = 0x21 Generic Disk read c103d0s6 Failure: Logical block 292272, physical blocks 333328-333343"

On my MAC I then extracted the various partition slices. There are the usual Apple disk slices there, Apple_partition, Apple_Driver. Then something that is a HFS system called A/UX CDinstall. Then three Apple_UNIX partions. Two big and one small that appear to be a swap partition.

The fault code above indicate that slice 6 is bad. I extracted that one and sure it was possible to mount under Linux, but returned garbage when trying to read. Slice 4 which also is a Apple Unix / UFS files system mounted fine and could be listed under Linux.

I then tried the 3.0.0 ISO that is floating around. Slice 6 is exactly the same size compared with 3.0.1 but works fine when mounted.

What is your experience? Is there any uncorrupted 3.0.1 images floating around?

On the 3.0 iso both Apple UNIX slices contained something that looked like a bootable UFS file system. Kernel files etc. Anyone knows the purpose of these two UFS filesystems? Slice 4 seems to be different in size between 3.0 and 3.0.1. The latter having a bigger slice4. In both cases slice 6 is of identical size. Slice 4 has a directory called ARCHIVES which seemes to contain big archive files. Possibly in cpio-format (not in tar format at least)

I will give a try transplanting slice 6 from the 3.0 ISO ot the 3.0.1 ISO...
