Aluminum PowerBook G4 battery

The battery in my 12" Aluminum PB G4 doesn't hold a charge for very long. If it is fully charged and running off the battery it lasts about 30 minutes or so before dying. If it's fully charged and totally shut down (unplugged and sitting in a drawer), the battery is drained completely within a few days (evidenced by the clock resetting).

Is there any way to refresh or renew the battery? Is there a reliably source for replacement batteries -- preferably without costing a fortune?

No, and no. The only option is to get it rebuilt with new cells, which requires specialized equipment to reflash the BMS EEPROM to work properly with the new cells. Chansbattery.ca should be able to do this.

Hi, try this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3144154652...g161rOAKTEyi5BMAteFCL+wgo=|tkp:Bk9SR9T_1ozdYQ

I can still get PowerBook G4 DLSD batteries without having to get new cells.

That’s an iBook battery.
Yes, I know. But, I haven't had issues getting batteries for my type of model which is a DLSD 15 inch. Also, I sent you a message about proton mail not working on any PowerPC web browser, incl Wicknix interwebPPC and tenfourfox.

Didn’t get any message? And I wouldn’t be able to do anything about that, I don’t even use proton.

I guess the question is. I am always in Mac OS 9 and also in Leopard.. more so for Mac OS 9 and I need to be able to retrieve my mail going through less secure apps. Is there a software I can use for getting my email under OS 9 ?

Best bet is to set up browservice which is a local web proxy that allows you to browse modern sites on old browsers. It handles all the retrieving and security on a modern computer, then passes the info down as images that the old browsers can display. This apparently works to just use the web normally, interactions included. I haven’t set it up yet though.

Hi ! I have used browservice before. Its really nice. I just wish sound would work through the the modern system when sending to OS 9. Seeing youtube being displayed and watching a movie under OS 9 using Browservice is pretty cool. I will see if there is a mac version of it to compile under Sierra for my Mac Pro to host it. Come to think of it, did youtube or any intense video ever work on OS 9 ? I remember when I owned my first sawtooth 350 G4 in 2000-2001 going on some kind of video website and the video worked without issues.

Hey 3lectr1cPPC, do you have the link to browservice ? I wonder if they made it possible to implement sound with it ? It would be awesome to hear sound of youtube videos on OS 9.

I have Browservice running on my always-on Home Theater PC. It crashes from time to time, so I have RestartOnCrash set up to monitor it. I haven’t tried sound yet, but browsing is doable with my Powerbook G3 Lombard, and fast with my 2009 Macbook.
